The Manukau Branch of the National Council of Women

The Manukau Branch of the National Council of Women

The Manukau Branch of the National Council of Women held their celebration today to commemorate 130 years of women’s suffrage in Aotearoa New Zealand.

Our guest speaker was Councillor Christine Fletcher who beautifully traversed a number of her experiences and wrapped them all into the many roles women have in life during the good times, the bad times, the times that require more resilience than others.

We recognised three women today with a certificate of thanks for their contributions to our communities, Barbara Thomson

Jyostna Mistry and Olga Mason.

Christine Knock was presented with her National Council of Women Life Membership badge having served 38 years and taking on a variety of leaderships roles during that time.

It was an excellent morning of commemoration.

Inaugural Counties Manukau Games 2022

Today was the official opening of the inaugural Counties Manukau Games 2022.

Held at Bruce Pulman Park this is an opportunity for 1500 young people from across CM to compete in an Aims Games-like event over three days.
Congratulations to the Principals, Teachers, Parents and volunteers who made this happen for our kids.
Thanks also to the sponsors and their representatives there today in support, John L Slater, Bruce Pulman, Gary Troup, Brent Catchpole, Jan Robinson and Melanie
Kennerley from Z.

Wattle Downs Residents

Tonight's Wattle Downs Residents Group meeting was a full house.
Chair Row Robinson had a full and active agenda which was really motivating for all in attendance.
I love the happy faces of Rae who presented the winning raffle to Jenny!
Thank you to David Hopkins for your work on the Waiata Shores Footbridge - Jared I really valued your input on why speed calming devices are important for children as a priority.
We are all looking forward to the famous Wattle downs Christmas Picnic on the 18th December !
