The Manukau Branch of the National Council of Women

The Manukau Branch of the National Council of Women held their celebration today to commemorate 130 years of women’s suffrage in Aotearoa New Zealand.

Our guest speaker was Councillor Christine Fletcher who beautifully traversed a number of her experiences and wrapped them all into the many roles women have in life during the good times, the bad times, the times that require more resilience than others.

We recognised three women today with a certificate of thanks for their contributions to our communities, Barbara Thomson

Jyostna Mistry and Olga Mason.

Christine Knock was presented with her National Council of Women Life Membership badge having served 38 years and taking on a variety of leaderships roles during that time.

It was an excellent morning of commemoration.
