I had a few minutes on BBC News last week speaking to the Council’s 2021 approval of investment in cycleways for people who choose to cycle. Safe cycleways protect both the cyclist and the users of the main road corridor.

The approved 306 million is 1% of the Regional Land Transport budget being spent on 1.2% of the cycling mode.

The topic of course is much broader than that, it is about the provision of alternatives for people who would take up the choice of cycling, taking the bus or train or other modes of travel.

These all contribute to easing congestion so we can get our freight, tradies, workers and all those who have no alternative but to drive moving more freely on our roads.
